Fast Cycle PSA for Gasification from Household Waste Ships to the UK

At Ivys, we are always excited when we pack and ship PSA (Pressure Swing Absorption) systems to our clients. This week, we are excited to send another fast-cycle PSA to the United Kingdom for an innovative gasification project that transforms household waste into high-quality hydrogen. Once the feedstock exits the gasifier as syngas, our PSA efficiently separates the hydrogen from CO₂ and other gases to generate high-purity hydrogen that can be used in fuel cell vehicles or as feedstock in industrial processes. The CO₂ can also be reused as an industrial gas in various applications like the food industry or in greenhouses.  

Ivys’s fast-cycle PSAs offer a powerful advantage in gasification: given that feedstock variability is a reality of the gasification process, the syngas composition at the exit of the gasifier can change over time.  The Ivys fast cycle PSA can be automatically adjusted to the changes in the syngas composition to ensure that the hydrogen gas purity is always maintained while optimizing for the best recovery.   This unique capability of fast-cycle PSAs is what makes them ideal for gasification applications.
